College Student Pressures Essay Students committing to the college of their choice are unaware of the peer pressures that arise when one attends school. Many may feel as though peer pressures tend to happen more often when one lives on campus, but it can occur off campus too. For example, peer pressures can lead to partying, drinking and drugs. The want to attend class is a daily pressure because there arenââ¬â¢t any consequences when no attending. Another main college pressure is financial stress. The percentage of partying that goes on throughout college is very high and is a common interest that happens every week. From facing the pressures of to staying and studying for a huge test, friends bothering each other constantly to go out and drink with them and pressure to take drugs to ââ¬Å"have a good time. â⬠These examples happen very often, and it is hard to say no to them, one factor is that friends may say ââ¬Å"youââ¬â¢re no funâ⬠, and making friends feel bad about not going out, and then the students start to not care about studying thinking you donââ¬â¢t need to do it anymore. In high school, going to school every day was a daily routine. Children always did because their parents made them, and if they didnââ¬â¢t, there were consequences. In moving up to going to college, there are no consequences in skipping class. If students skipped then they would miss the lesson of the day, and there is no ââ¬Å"making up the work,â⬠teachers are there to teach and not to babysit, so they could care less if students show up to class or not. This is a main pressure, students think, I donââ¬â¢t need to attend class today, and if they donââ¬â¢t go, there is no punishment or consequence. The common question of how am I going to pay for this, is commonly asked daily in a college students head. Financially pressures are high and rising throughout universities. The stressing and struggle to find enough money to pay for tuition and the costs of books and housing while living at school add up. Even though some student can qualify for financial aid cover the costs only temporary and have to deal with the costs later after graduating. This pressure leads some college students to either drop out or to focus more on working and less on their school work.

The Search for Large Extra Dimensions using Dijet Production from pp Collisions at 1.8 TeV Abstract The search for extra dimensions has been a topic of great interest and has been investigated with a variety of methods and techniques of analysis.[1,2,3,4] The existence of Large Extra Dimensions (LED) can be determined given that (at ~ Mew or greater) gravity and its mediator, the graviton (spin 2), can access these extra dimensional manifolds. Atwood has developed a model using hadron colliders and the cross-sections for a 2 T 2 hadronic dijet process.[2] We propose to use this model and to make a best fit as well as to establish bounds using Ms, the Planck energy scale for when quantum gravity causes a noticeable change from the SM, and n, the number of compacted extra dimensions. Introduction Popular string theories predict a 10 + 1 dimension space-time with the extra dimensions creating compacted manifolds. However, the size of these manifolds would be on the order of 10-35 m, and the energy needed for experimental test is significantly far out of the range of even very imaginative future colliders. The model proposed by Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos, and Dvali (ADD) introduces the possibility for extra dimensions (ED) to exist in order to solve the hierarchy problem of the physics at two very different energy scales. The first scale is the current experimental scale where physics is dictated by the SM (~Mew, the electro-weak scale), and the other scale is at the Planck scale (MPl).[1] In addition, ED may also help explain losses in transverse momenta and monojet events.[1,2,3,4]. The strength of gravity is about 1037 times weaker than the weak nuclear force. At some point on the energy scale, as most physics and especially Grand Unified Theories seem to indicate, all of the forces must be ââ¬Å"unified.â⬠This will certainly happen around the Planck energy scale (MPl à » 1017 GeV). Although the three strongest forces appear to be coming closer in relative strength with increasing energy, an extrapolation of the coupling constants for these forces using the SM will not cross at the same point.[5] However, supersymmetry and other related theories such as Technicolor, which have be cleverly devised in part to solve this (7s) problem, seem to predict that they will cross together with additional physics beyond the SM.[1,5] On the other hand, if unification is to occur, at some point gravity must make a tremendous climb in strength to be unified with the other forces.

Spanish American War: War over Rough Riders Reign
War over Rough Riders Reign With president William McKinney taking charge in order to protect his Americans living in Cuba from the Spanish, he sent over the U. S. S Maine. But on the way over, the barbarous uncivilized Spaniards blew up the ship before it could arrive at its chosen destination. ââ¬Å"Remember the Maine! â⬠was cheered by Americans all over the country. George Dewey valiantly storms his American Navy into Manila Bay. Deweyââ¬â¢s dominance was distinct. Spain lost 384 men in this battle, America lost only 1. Dewey sacrificed 11,000 troops in the Philippines and joined forces with the Filipinos Rebels. This greatly intimidated the Spanish and made the United States very intrepid. The Rough Riders, which are a volunteer cavalry under the command of Leonard Wood and Teddy Roosevelt, and 17,000 American troops, invaded the port city of Santiago in June, 1898. The Rough Riders were definitely the combatants of this battle and caused the Americans to paramount. They were so victorious that the Rough Riders led another battle; The Battle of San Juan Hill was a famous land battle that started on July 1st, 1898. Two days later, the doltish Spanish attempted to escape the American blockage of Santiago Harbor. They were unsuccessful and eventually surrendered on July 17th, 1898. American troops raided Puerto Rico in a conclusion to the last battle. This led to yet another American triumph. The United States is celebrating its victory in this brief war over Spain. As a result of winning the war, our American government has forced Spain to sign the Treaty of Paris. The clauses of this treaty are that Cuba will become independent, Spain will give Puerto Rico and the Pacific Island of Guam to the United States, and the United States will pay 20 million dollars for the annexation of the Philippines Islands. In this short 16 week war, 5,400 Americans lost their lives defending our country against the brutal Spanish. So in the end the United States was once again victorious and protected the weaker countries from certain demise of the debased Spaniards. GO U. S. A.!!!!!!!
